Always Never Fun #9

Thanks to Mike from Hardcore Mutation I got put in touch with Sam who does ANF fanzine since they were both visiting K-Town HC Fest this year. ANF is a New Zealand zine and those come few and far between so I was even more stoked, both because it's cool to be exposed to bands and scenes I'm not familiar with, but also because the zine's vibe is a throwback to 2011 for me, living in NZ and attending shows with 7 bands all playing some variation on a mix of crust, grind and powerviolence in Newton or somewhere on Cuba Street.

It's a stacked zine sharing most of it's content between NZ and OZ bands but not only: interviews with Kennel Grind, No Class, Liquid Nails (great stories of the early punk scene in Tasmania!) and even one with Henry Rollins talking about some of his experiences in Australia and doing commercials for Scion. There's also an Hellenic Punk Travel article which is sick, documenting Sam stay in Greece and his experience of the punk scene over there, a deep dive on OZ's Northern Territories bands, an article about Wellington punk pionneers Riot 111 and more stuff. The layout is strictly cut'n'paste and proper gritty, it's well written, honestly if you're the curious type and you're not afraid of things you don't already know or just just wanna know what punk is like in on the other side of the world, then this one is worth picking up.
